Oleksandr Svishchov on the final of the water polo season and the way to the Euro

Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation, shared his impressions of the fifth round of the Super League and outlined his expectations for the final part of the season. According to him, the fight for medals is only getting more intense, and the fans will see a real sports intrigue ahead.

A tough fight for silver and bronze

After the fifth round of the Men’s Super League, which took place in Lviv, the intrigue in the standings only intensified. According to Oleksandr Svishchov, the unexpected results added a special tension to the championship.

“We have quite a lot of intrigue in the fight for the second and third places in the Super League. Fans could see great matches with unexpected results. Especially pleasantly surprised the team “Aquatico”, which won two victories against the main competitors for medals,” said the president of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.

Team growth and the importance of the last round

Oleksandr Svishchov noted the progress of not only the leaders but also the teams fighting for 5th-8th places:

“KIVS and Kyiv teams have shown progress. The Lviv team has won three games, and the Kyiv team, despite the lack of points, is showing significant changes in their game. They are experiencing staffing difficulties due to the participation of players in the ranks of the Armed Forces, and we honor their contribution to the defense of the country.”

Season finale and national team preparation

A busy month is ahead: the men’s and women’s champions will be determined, and preparations for Euro 2026 qualification will begin.

“The final round should bring our teams to a new level. We are planning training camps for the men’s and women’s national teams. This is an important stage on the way to the European Championship,” emphasized Oleksandr Svishchov.

The task is maximum in qualifications

Svishchov stated bluntly: only the highest results are expected from the national teams, despite the difficult groups.

“The women’s team has tough opponents – Serbia, Switzerland, Finland. But we want the girls to demonstrate their game, character and belief in themselves,” he commented.

“For men, it’s France, Malta, Portugal. The task is to qualify. We have a strong team, and the legionnaires who play abroad should become the driving force. Playing for the national team is a matter of pride and responsibility,” summarized the FVPU president.

Supporting sports is an investment in the future of Ukraine

In addition to managing the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation, Oleksandr Svishchov actively invests in the development of sports. In 2022, he opened the modern Leoland complex in Lviv, which became the center of sports life.

Recently, for the second time, Ukrainian tennis stars Elina Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovsky held a master class for more than 160 children from all over Ukraine.

Summing up, the President of the Ukrainian Sports Federation Oleksandr Svishchov expressed his firm belief that sport plays a key role in shaping national identity. He assured that the Federation will continue to actively invest in the development of young athletes, improvement of sports infrastructure and the sports industry in general, as he believes this is the foundation for the future of Ukraine.
