The competition was attended by teams from different parts of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Water Polo Cup competition has finished in Lviv. It is reported by the Media Center of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Federation, told reporters how the Cup was held during the full-scale war in Ukraine. According to him, the competition was held both among women’s and men’s teams. Even teams from Donetsk region were able to come to the Cup.
“You know, we believed that we could hold the Ukrainian Water Polo Cup. Of course, I was worried, because there is a full-scale war in Ukraine and whether all the teams will be able to come to the tournament, especially from the East of the country and Kyiv. But we managed the seemingly impossible: we gathered men’s and women’s teams”, – Oleksandr Svishchov says.
The most difficult thing was to gather women’s teams, because a considerable number of Ukrainian women had to leave the country. “As for the girls, many of them are still abroad, even our women’s team plays in the first German water polo league. Girls from Kharkiv and Dnipro could not come”, – says the President of the Federation, – “We have demonstrated that water polo LIVES, despite all the difficulties in our country. Life goes on, and sport should give these emotions to people”.
Oleksandr Svishchov also said that the Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutzeit visited the Water Polo Cup. “We talked about the problems that the coaches were concerned about, heard the opinions of the officials and now we are actively working. The most important thing for us is that children from the East of Ukraine have the opportunity to train and play water polo. This is the number one task for the FVPU management. We are working in this direction now,” he said. The President of the FVPU thanked the Minister and Lviv city and regional authorities and wished strength to the defenders of Ukraine: “Glory to our defenders and strength and patience to expel the occupier from our land. The main victory will be for the Armed Forces, I am sure.”
We will remind, recently Ukraine defeated Armenia in the League of Nations with a score of 5:0.
