
The agenda addressed various issues, including the organization of the Ukrainian water polo championships among men and women. One of the most important topics was the holding of the Ukrainian water polo championships among boys, juniors, juniors and girls, in particular, the development of children’s and youth water polo in Ukraine. Yevhen Naumchyk, Chairman of the Youth Coaching Council, spoke about the plans and prospects for children’s and youth water polo in Ukraine. The conference also recognized three Ukrainian coaches. Volodymyr Havrylenko, Timur Shylin, and Serhiy Stolyarov were presented with certificates of appreciation for the development of water polo by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matviy Bidnyi.
“Unfortunately, we have a difficult issue with water polo players who are growing up and are 16-17 years old. This transition to adult water polo is very difficult. Many guys either stop playing water polo or leave Ukraine and go abroad. We have to work to keep the interest among young men,” said Volodymyr Havrylenko, head coach of the Zakarpattia Oblast national team.

They discussed the development and problematic issues of water polo refereeing.
Vyacheslav Belevtsov, an international referee, said: “We will involve young referees in servicing junior matches. In particular, boys and girls aged 18-20. In this way, we are increasing the water polo referee community in Ukraine. They will work with juniors for the first year, then time will tell.”

The extraordinary conference discussed the challenges for the water polo community for 2024. The President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation Oleksandr Svishchov proposed to create an initiative group on the strategy of water polo development in Ukraine for the next 5 years.

“We should strive to develop water polo strategically for several years to come. During the discussion, we came up with an idea to make a joint roadmap to develop water polo in Ukraine. We want all opinions to be heard, and every water polo specialist and functionary to join this initiative group. We will write down all opinions and draw up a clear development strategy,” said Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.
