On June 29, the club celebrated its 75th anniversary. The celebrations recalled the history of Dynamo, honored Dynamo players of different generations, and also redeemed the stamp that the club and Ukrposhta developed for the team’s 75th anniversary.
“Dynamo Lviv is a great club with great traditions. There were many generations that won high awards and trained good athletes. I believe that the next generations will support this baton,” Mykhailo Tsymbalyuk, MP, Ukraine.
An interactive and printed photo exhibition was organized for the guests of the event, as well as an exhibition of the trophies won by the team. One of the exhibits was the first ball played by Dynamo back in 1949.
“WC Dynamo is a brand for Lviv and the entire region. I thank each of you for making history and wish you victories in life and in competitions. I am grateful that I can be a part of WC Dynamo Lviv, see these matches live and the glory you bring to Lviv region,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
“Dynamo Lviv has been the most titled water polo club in Ukraine since 1949. And since our country’s independence, Dynamo Lviv has become an 11-time champion of Ukraine, a 13-time winner of the Cup and a 7-time winner of the Super Cup of Ukraine.
Since 1949, it has been the only team in Ukraine that has not missed a single Ukrainian championship.
“I believe that our water polo players from the WC Dynamo Lviv team will forge great victories not only in Ukraine but also in the international arena: at the European, World, and Olympic Championships, so that our athletes will be heard in different parts of the world. I am an ardent fan of WC Dynamo Lviv, I love and appreciate this team,” said Andriy Sadovyi, Lviv Mayor.
Six Dynamo players participated in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as part of the Ukrainian national team. Since then, it has been the only men’s team to represent Ukraine at the Olympic Games. At that time, Dynamo players Oleksiy Yegorov, Oleksandr Potolnytsky, Vadym Rozhdestvensky, Dmytro Andreyev, Vadym Skuratov, and Dmytro Stratan competed. The coach of our national team was the coach of Dynamo Kyiv at the time, Yuriy Haidaienko!
Four Dynamo players became medalists at the Olympic Games, including two who were players of Dynamo Lviv at the time. These are Mykola Smirnov and Viktor Berendiuga. As part of the national team, they won bronze at the 1988 Seoul Olympics!
“I would like to recognize those people who have been working for WC Dynamo Lviv for several generations. They have come a long way in 75 years, and there is still a lot of work to be done to win new awards. There are not many brands in Ukraine that have such a long history, and WC Dynamo Lviv is one of them. I am glad that the club lives and develops in such a difficult time for the country,” said Vadym Gutzeit, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
“First of all, I would like to thank all generations of WC Dynamo Lviv: the club’s veterans, coaches, and players of different generations. They have made a great contribution to the development of the team. Today, we have an example of past generations of how to achieve high results. I know that the current players will multiply and glorify the club not only in Ukraine but also in the international arena. I congratulate everyone involved on the anniversary,” said Oleksandr Svishchov, Honorary President of WC Dynamo Lviv.
The club’s slogan since 2001, which inspires and motivates the team to victories and victories, is: “Guys, cheers! Cheers!” It appeared in Sevastopol at the Ukrainian Cup.
“Today, during the war, we have the opportunity to celebrate our club’s anniversary thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So we want the glory of the team, which was forged by several generations of water polo players, to be multiplied and developed by the current players,” said Mykola Smirnov, Vice President of the FVPU.
“For me, WC Dynamo Lviv is one of the symbols of sporting Lviv. Today the team is showing excellent results, developing and moving forward. I am confident that this club has a great future, people here live with their hearts to develop and increase the glory of the team,” said Hryhoriy Kozlovskyy, Honorary President of FC Rukh Lviv.
