Oleksandr Yuriyovych Svishchov, president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, private entrepreneur, philanthropist.
Born on September 22, 1970 in Lviv (Ukraine).
The only son in the family of Yuri Svishchv and Valentina Rykova, descendants of victims of the totalitarian communist regime.
After graduating from school in 1987, he entered the Lviv Vocational Technical School No. 22, where in 1989 he mastered the profession of watch repair master.
From 1989 to 1994, he worked by profession.
From 1994 to 1996, he was the sales manager of Kamaz – Lviv LLP, in 1997 he was transferred to the position of deputy director of sales, was engaged in the promotion of the enterprise until 2006.
In 1999, mastered the production of spare parts and components for large-sized equipment.
In 2000, he invests in the shares of Avtomat NGO, becoming a co-owner of the enterprise.
In 2002, he acquired the shares of PJSC “Sambir Experimental Machine-Building Plant” and became its co-owner.
In 2001-2003, his passion for sports brought Oleksandr Svishchov to the SKA-Orbit football club, which he headed for three years.
In 2006, Oleksandr Svishchov became a shareholder of one more company – Lyvarny Zavod LLC, where as commercial director he proved himself as a professional manager and brought the plant to the list of the best manufacturers of spare parts, components and finished products for large-sized cargo and passenger vehicles in Ukraine and the world.
In 2010, he became an adviser to the chairman of the board of the Sambirsk Research and Experimental Machine-Building Plant LLC.
From 2011 to 2012, he held the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PJSC Avtomat.
In 2012, he sold shares of enterprises and invested in the retail trade of tobacco products.
In 2012, becoming the President of the “Dynamo” Lviv Water Polo Club, in a few years he led it to seven-time champions of Ukraine, eight-time winners of the Cup of Ukraine, three-time winners of the Super Cup of Ukraine.
In 2014, Oleksandr Svishchov was elected vice-president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine.
In 2016, he started the production of tobacco products, in 2019 he became a co-founder of Vinnikiv Tobacco Factory LLC and Marvel Trading House LLC.
In 2018, he will invest in the construction business.
In 2021, he will graduate from the Lviv University of Business and Law with the qualification “International relations, public communications and regional stages”.
From 2021 – adviser to the Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council.
On June 17, 2021, Oleksandr Svishchov was elected President of the “Water Polo Federation of Ukraine” at the reporting and election conference.
One of the founders of the NGO “International Society of Ukrainian-Indian Friendship”.
A philanthropist, a person who has been studying the history of his Motherland for about 20 years, and pays special attention to his native city of Lviv, where he was born, grew up and still lives.
He is fond of collecting, studies numismatics, ethnography and museum work. Actively supports Ukrainian book publishing and museum work.
Thanks to Oleksandr Svishchov, the unique collection of the Vinnytsia Historical and Local History Museum was replenished with such valuable exhibits as a fragment of a bronze bracelet with enamels from the time of Kyiv culture, pendants, moon rings, and ancient body crosses.
European coins were also donated to the museum: Prague money, the ort of King Sigismund III, thalers of Frederick Augustus and Maximilian, a collection of cresals.
In 2021, the patron donated 84 artifacts to the garrison church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul of the UGCC in Lviv. Among the exhibits are small table crosses, a crucifix of the 14th century, a table icon with Jesus Christ of the 12th-13th centuries, a table icon with the image of the Mother of God of the 12th century, a large crucifix, an arched icon of the Mother of God with a baby of the 12th-13th centuries.
In 2014, with the assistance of Oleksandr Svishchov, a film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of water polo in the Lviv Region – “Hardened by Water” was shot. Also, on his initiative, 2 books about water polo were published: “100 years of water polo” and “70 years of water polo club “Dynamo” Lviv”.
In 2019, with the support of Oleksandr Svishchov, a celebration was held in honor of the seventieth anniversary of the legendary Dynamo Lviv Water Polo Club, during which a record was set – “The largest water polo ball in the world”. For the implementation of this project, Oleksandr Svishchov was awarded in the nomination “People of Sport – 2019”.
In his spare time, he likes to travel, read and play sports.
