Lviv hosted a tense match for the Ukrainian Water Polo Super Cup, in which the reigning champions, Dynamo Lviv, confirmed their status by defeating LFKS Aquatico with a score of 13:7. The event was a bright start to the new season and an occasion for Oleksandr Svishchov, President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation, to outline the key areas of the sport’s development.

Although the fans expected a fierce battle, Dynamo Lviv started the game strongly, leading 6-0 in the first period. This breakthrough was decisive and, despite all the efforts of LFCS-Aquatico to come back, Dynamo Lviv confidently brought the match to victory.
- Roman Hryshchuk, captain of FC Dynamo Lviv, noted the team’s fighting spirit and praised the innovation of selecting referees by drawing lots, which added unpredictability to the match.
- Oleh Dobush, coach of LFKS-Aquatico, admitted that a poor start did not allow his team to put up a fight, but expressed pride in the season in which his semi-amateur team reached the finals in all tournaments.
Oleksandr Svishchov: Betting on youth and supporting traditions
President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation Oleksandr Svishchov, who attended the match, congratulated the winners and thanked both teams for playing. He particularly emphasized the importance of attracting young players to the leading clubs.
“It was an interesting game. We were expecting an intrigue, but it failed… A lot of young people are joining the teams today, so I hope for a good championship ahead,” said Oleksandr Svishchov.
This thesis is supported by other sports officials, who note that despite the conditions of a full-scale invasion, water polo in the Lviv region is developing, and experienced players are passing on their knowledge to a new generation.
Memory preservation as part of a development strategy
Oleksandr Svishchov’s activities are not limited to supporting current competitions. Recently, a tournament dedicated to the memory of the outstanding coach and defender of Ukraine Vitaliy Lisun was held in Kyiv under the patronage of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation. The President of the Federation personally attended the tournament, emphasizing the importance of honoring the heroes who dedicated their lives to Ukrainian sports.
“I would like to thank the people of Kyiv for the excellent organization of the tournament in honor of Vitaliy Lisun… The memory of a person lives on as long as we cherish and honor him or her,” said Oleksandr Svishchov.
Last year, he announced that the Vitaliy Lisun Memorial Tournament would become an annual event. Thus, the federation under the leadership of Oleksandr Svishchov not only promotes sports achievements, but also fosters a culture of remembrance and respect, which is an integral part of strengthening the nation’s sports spirit.
